29 October, the seminar on water-saving wheat breeding and development of wheat industry, sponsored by the Institute of Dryland Farming, was held in Hengshui, Hebei Province. The seminar was chaired by Lu Guanli, director of the institute, and more than 20 experts in wheat breeding attended on invitation.
At the meeting, Prof. Guo Jinkao of Shijiazhuang Academy of Agricultural Sciences gave the presentation on wheat breeding practice and thinking, reporting his team’s newest research achievements around the breeding targets of water-saving, stable yield, green and high efficiency. Prof. Li Hui of the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops of HAAFS introduced his progress on the transformation and evaluation of wheat drought resistant related genes. The participants exchanged views and had discussions about the fast and efficient breeding method for water-saving wheat cultivar, and water-saving breeding and wheat industry development, as well as other issues.
