In order to upgrade the level of apple production and the adjusting of variety structure and to boost the collaborative innovation of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebe, the Institute of Changli Fruit Tree organized the technical training on high quality and high yield apple production, namely, field observation tour of Yan Mountain high quality apple demonstration base, from October 22 to 23. More than 70 people participated in the training, including heads of municipal agriculture and forestry bureaus of Tangshan City, Qinhuangdao City and Chengde City, heads and technicians from agriculture and forestry bureaus of main apple production counties, as well as representatives of apple growers.
On the morning of 23, chaired by Prof. Fu You, the presentation on affecting factors and countermeasures for high quality high yield apple production and the choosing of apple varieties while establishing an orchard was given, respectively, by Prof. Zhang Xinsheng and Associate Professor Zhao Tongsheng, at the same time, the two speakers answered the questions raised by participants. On the afternoon of the same day, the conferee visited Changli Integrated Test Station Kongzhuang Demonstration Base and Shigezhuang Demonstration Base. While in these two demonstration bases the age of the trees is different, they all adapted the double dwarf combination as SH dwarf stock plus short shoot Miyasaki Fuji, demonstrating the technologies of slender spindle pruning, growing grass between rows, covering cloth within rows, and IPM. The demonstration has gained very good effects. Zhao Tongsheng showed the participants the special intensive cultivation technique for dwarf stock and answered the questions of the trainees on fruit tree management.
The participants showed great interest to this indoor and outdoor combined training, saying the training is vivid and impressive and the two observation sites have standard management with large production scale, they learned a lot from the training and hope more of this kind of activities will be organized next year.
