Tackling key problems in green technology of corn’s yield increasing and integrated demonstration

Recently, the autumn harvest in Hebei Province ushered in the busiest season, and the corn harvest was in full swing. The Institute of Cereals and Oil Crops invited relevant experts to conduct field inspection on the project of "Tackling key problems in green technology of corn’s yield increasing and integrated demonstration " undertaken by Shijiazhuang comprehensive test station of the national corn industry technology system. The expert group listened to the work report of the project team and checked the application of the demonstration technology on the spot.


In the 100 mu demonstration area of Zhaoxian County, corn planting management is standardized, and all varieties are growing well in the field without lodging and disease. Experts measured the yield of four varieties, "Jiyu 3421", "Jiyu 757", "Zhongdan 153", and "Zhengdan 958", using the five point yield measurement method. Song Wei, Director of the corn center of the institute, introduced that the project comprehensively utilized new varieties with high and stable yield, single seed precision planting machinery integrated with seed and fertilizer, IPM and weed prevention and control, scalable water-saving sprinkler irrigation integrated with water and fertilizer, etc. According to the current yield measurement, the field performance of the demonstration varieties is good. Although the early stage was affected by extreme weather and pests, the yield did not decline due to the technical measures. According to the comprehensive yield measurement survey and analysis, the average yield per hectare is 702.6kg, the average yield of the control variety is 604.7kg, and the average yield increased by 16.2%. A bumper harvest is in sight!
