September 25 of 2020, along with the 2nd Farmers’ Harvest Festival, the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops and Zaoqiang Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly organized the Field Observation Meeting on High Oleic Acid Peanut. HAAFS Vice President Zhang Jianjun attended and addressed the meeting.
Zhang Jianjun pointed out at the opening ceremony, peanut is the first choice for planting structure adjustment in Zaoqiang County and high oleic acid peanut production will help to improve the overall profit of peanut industry and increase the farmers’ income as well. He hopes this meeting will provide evidence for farmers and increase their interests to adopt new varieties and green production technologies.
The participants were organized visiting the production bases at Dongfang Village and Houhe West Village of Xiaozhang Township. The on-spot measurements showed that with drip irrigation under plastic film the yield of high oleic acid variety Jihua 16 reached to 476kg/mu, 14.4% higher than control; and by interplanting with fruit trees the yield also reached at 450kg/mu. Li Bingwang, a peanut grower expressed his happiness by saying this is far more of his expectation of 350kg/mu. Then, the participants visited the harvesting field and display site of Jihua 11 at Duanzhaicheng Village. In 2020, the government of Zaoqiang County took high oleic acid peanut as the objective for structure adjustment and achieved remarkable effects: the production area reaches to 10 thousand mu with the income 3150 Yuan RMB per mu and the net income 1582 Yuan per mu. The expecting production area will increase to 30 thousand mu by the year 2021.
Obviously, this meeting will promote the adoption of new varieties and new technologies, which is of great significance to the local agriculture structure adjustment and the farmers’ income increase. At the same time, it will help the surrounding areas and Hengshui City to develop high oleic oil peanut.
More than 200 people attended the meeting including leaders of different levels, enterprise representatives, peanut growers, farmers and reporters.
