On July 23-24, the 2020 Academic Committee Meeting of Hebei Minor Grain Crop Research Laboratory was held in Zhuolu County, Hebei Province. Academician Liuxu, Member of the CPPCC Standing Committee and the former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Wang Huijun, the former President of Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Prof. Zhang Aimin of the Institute of Genetics and Development of CAS, Prof. Ma Zhiying, the former Vice President of Hebei Agricultural University, Prof. Qiao Gexia of the Institute of Zoology of CAS, Prof. Tanbin of the Science Academy of National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, Prof. Wang Haibo, the former Vice President of HAAFS, Prof. Diao Xianmin of the Institute of Crop Sciences of CAAS, Prof. Sun Shigang, the Vice President of HAAFS, leaders of Zhuolu County, the Research Management Division of HAAFS and the Institute of Millet, and experts and scholars altogether 24 participants attended the meeting.
Hebei Minor Grain Crop Research Laboratory, relying on the Institute of Millet of HAAFS, has achieved good results for three consecutive times on the provincial scientific research platform evaluation since 2013. The laboratory Deputy Director Prof. Li Shunguo introduced the overall work, progress, problems, improvement approaches and future plan of the laboratory. After listening to the report, the academic committee members affirmed the achievements of the laboratory and give guiding opinions on the key points and planning of the future development. This meeting laid a good foundation for upgrading the laboratory’s research level, accelerating the discipline development, providing better service to the development of minor grain crop industry in Hebei and China, by further clearing the discipline orientation, research direction and targets of the laboratory.
During the meeting, the participants also investigated the demonstration base for high quality production of minor grain crops in Shangxinzhuang Village and the demonstration base for water-saving irrigation technology and the planting base for wild vegetables in Nihaizi Village, accompanied by the leaders of the county government.
