In order to improve the level of strawberry planting technology in the modern agricultural park of Hebei Province and enhance the market competitiveness of the strawberry production in the park, on August 15, the Deputy Director of IAIE Niu Xiting led a team, joined by the strawberry expert Yang Lei of Shijiazhuang Fruit Tree Institute, to Hanlong Strawberry S&T Demonstration Park in Mancheng District of Baoding City to organize and hold a training meeting on key techniques of strawberry cultivation.
About 40 managers, technicians and strawberry growers nearby Hanlong Park participated in the training. Late August to early September was the key period for strawberry transplanting in greenhouse. At the training meeting, the strawberry expert Yang Lei systematically explained the treatment for soil preparation, the selection of varieties and the method of seedling-setting and the field management and pests and diseases control after transplanting. The training was highly appreciated and welcomed by the technicians and strawberry growers. After the meeting, the technical staff of Hanlong Park conducted consultation and exchanges with the experts on the practical problems encountered in production management. The person in charge of Hanlong Park expressed that this timely training had both practical significance and far-reaching impact on upgrading the technical level of the local strawberry planting and improving the quality, yield and market competitiveness of strawberry production.
After the training, IAIE and Hanlong Park reached the following consensus: firstly, an expert workstation will be set up in Mancheng Hanlong Park to provide long-term technical support for the development of Strawberry production with Shijiazhuang Fruit Tree Institute; Secondly, the next strawberry production technology training and on-site observation meeting will be held before the ripening and harvesting of strawberries (expected in December), to promote and display new technologies and achievements, and to guide the surrounding fruit farmers to apply green production technology onto strawberry production.
