Vice-president Zhang Jianjun makes work inspection and guidance in the cotton demonstration base in Qiuxian County

To promote the collaboration between HAAFS and Handan City, Vice-president Zhang Jianjun led a group of people to the cotton demonstration base in Qiuxian County for work inspection and guidance on May 28. The trip was accompanied by the director of cotton institute Lin Yongzeng, Vice-governor of Qiuxian County Xie Guojun and related leaders from Handan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Qiuxian Bureau of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
      Zhang Jianjun and his delegation visited the demonstration field of new cotton varieties and related supporting technologies. After listening to the 2019 work report made by Shi Shuxin who was responsible for the base management, Zhang gave affirmation and recommendation to the base work and emphasized the next work focus.
      In 2019, the Institute of Cotton, by taking the leading role of science and technology, focusing on the supply-side structural reform of agriculture and aiming to improve the quality and efficiency of green development, demonstrated in Quixian the new cotton varieties Jimian 818, Jiyou 861, Jiza999 and the simplified cultivation integration technology in the establishments of core area 1000 mu, extension area 12100 mu and radiation area 200 thousand mu. The demonstration has led to the large-scale cultivation of the varieties and the intensification of technology extension, realized the reducing of seeds, chemicals, fertilizers, water and labor and increasing of yield and quality. It was estimated that the yield of seed cotton in core area would reach to 50kg/mu and get over 500 yuan RMB extra profit. Meanwhile, the demonstration has reduced the overdrawn of groundwater and obtained obvious water-saving and ecological benefits.
